Invigilators for Folklore

exhibition in Newhaven

Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 27 March and 12 April. 2 x invigilator positions, working 4 to 5 shifts over a three week period. You’ll be able to fill in your availability when you apply.

Responsibilities:

Ensuring artworks safety aren’t compromised/ ensuring artwork are kept safe
Welcoming visitors including providing information about the exhibition and being aware of accessibility needs (training provided)
Helping with general set up of exhibition at opening and closing, workshops and events

£12.60 p/h (Brighton living wage), minimum 6h shifts. You must be aged between 18 & 25 to apply for this position. Working at BN9 Studio, Marine Workshops, BN9 0ER.

Interpreting Artworks Workshop

A free workshop for 18 - 25 year olds on Friday 28 March from 11am to 4pm, respond to Toad Lickers Collective’s Folklore exhibition.

So you’ve got some artwork, you’ve put it in the gallery space, what next?

Spend a day with Toad Lickers Collective to explore the role of interpretation in curation and exhibitions. Interpretation is, in short, the text that accompanies artworks and exhibitions in the gallery, which bring in art theory and history.

But who’s voice gets to interpret what art means and how could we challenge this to make exhibitions more inclusive and interesting?

At the end of the day, participants will be invited to add their own interpretation text to the exhibition.

Register your interest by 5pm, Thu 20 Mar. We will prioritise a portion of places on this workshop for young people living in Newhaven. We will let you know if we have a place for you with more details by Fri 21 Mar.
